The Race of the camp fires had its first edition in 1980, integrated in the Youth Games Peniche.

Around 80 athletes participate in this race, mostly from Peniche.

Soon it was clear that this would become a classic of road racing, given the existing symbiosis between the fascination of the night race itself, lit by the fires and great free feast of sardines after the finish.

This race is intended for all athletes, federated or not, in the race for everyone

The beginning of the race is simultaneous and the route has 15,000 meters, with the classifications made by scale and by teams.
